Frederick Knott's thriller is a classic tale of deceit, betrayal, and a "Perfect Crime" that goes very, very wrong. Tony Wendice, a charming, sophisticated ex-tennis player, has concocted a plot to murder his wife, Margot, and inherit her fortune. As with all foolproof schemes, of course, things don't always work out quite so well, and Tony's "Perfect Crime" leads to some very unintended circumstances. A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues, as each character tries to outsmart the other, leading to a breathtaking climax. Frederick Knott's play was made into a celebrated Hitchcock movie starring Grace Kelly, but this is the original: a theatre classic, full of intrigue, blackmail, backstabbers, and almost unbearable suspense

Cast
MARGOT
MARGOT is somewhat charming and naive but not totally unsophisticated. Margot is married to Tony. She is not suspicious of Tony at all and has no idea that he is planning to kill her. She is a romantic and has an innocent approach to life. She had an affair with Max in the past but now believes her marriage is working.
MAX
MAX is an American and is a writer of murder mysteries. He had an affair with Margot during the time that Tony was in America playing in professional tennis tournaments. He is still in love with Margot.
TONY
TONY is selfish and arrogant and has an elaborate scheme, which he carries out in debonair fashion. He married Margot for her money. He was a professional tennis player but now sells sports equipment. He planned to kill Margot himself until he ran into Lesgate.
LESGATE
LESGATE is a criminal! Stole money in college. Spent time in jail. Possibly killed one of his many lady friends. Attended the same college as Tony. Obviously, will do anything for money.
HUBBARD
HUBBARD is a British Inspector of Police, somewhat humorous but not overly so. He is suspicious of Margot and Max regarding the murder, but not suspicious of Tony until later.
